CFO (Finance and Administration Manager)

The Finance and Administration Manager provides financial leadership to the Foundation. Reporting to the General Manager and leading a small team of 3 accountants, 1 purchase officer and 4 legal officers,  he/she is an important and strategic member of the Management Team. In this capacity, he/she helps define strategic objectives, key priorities and improvement initiatives. Like the General Manager, the Finance and Administration Manager attends the Board meetings but is not a member of the Board.

The Finance and Administration Manager advises the General Manager and the Board on all financial and administrative matters. He/she must therefore demonstrate a firm grasp of the key financial issues that may impact the Foundation, anticipate trends, opportunities and problems, provide sound analyses and develop appropriate solutions. He/she coordinates all financial aspects of the Foundation and acts as the custodian of revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities. 

The Finance Manager will be expected to bring a fresh perspective and to challenge current processes where appropriate, while respecting the existing culture and its strengths. He / she will need to help motivate and lead the organization, will pursue continuous improvement of financial and operational processes and practices, including effective planning, budgeting, and forecasting, and will develop and maintain internal control systems to safeguard the financial assets of the organization. He / she will also collaborate with independent auditors to ensure all compliance obligations are met, potential audit issues are resolved, and yearly financial statements are prepared timely and adequately.



Education / training University Degree

Language Fluent in Dutch, French and English

Professional Experience/Competencies

We are looking for a senior finance executive, with strong values, undisputable ethics and robust financial expertise. He/she must have a high level of integrity, combined with respect for others, and will be expected to “lead by example”.

Candidates must have a full-fledged finance management experience, most likely acquired in professional sizeable corporations, preferably (but not exclusively) in service industries, and very much attracted by the idea of contributing to a “higher goal” in the not-for-profit environment of Stichting tegen Kanker/ Fondation contre le Cancer.

The Finance and Administration Manager must possess strong leadership and coaching skills, acquired through former people management experience, and be able to develop a small team of finance professionals while remaining very “hands-on” himself/herself. Depending on the profile of the future job holder, his/her responsibilities could be broadened.

The Finance and Administration Manager must possess broad financial expertise, covering mainly accounting, treasury, financial planning & analysis, and controlling activities. He/she must present strong financial acumen and, more specifically, the ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate financial reports, statements, and projections.

He/she must also possess strong project management and communication skills (both verbally and in writing), which will enable him /her to present effectively to the Board and to have a strong impact on the whole organization.
